CCF Medical School Scholarship - Applications Now Open:

Apply Now

The Department of Education recently announced a delay in the release of the FAFSA applicant data to colleges and universities. In response to this delay, we are extending the scholarship deadline for our College and Medical School scholarships only to Wednesday, May 1, 2024 to allow applicants to upload the FAFSA Student Aid Report summary and to us to get a better sense of where the student will be attending college, as details on financial aid packages will not be likely until mid-April at the earliest.

In 2021, CCF launched the Dr. Anthony S. Fauci Medical School Scholarship, which is awarded annually to Italian American students who exemplify the values and determination of Dr. Fauci. The scholarship supports students with great academic prowess seeking financial aid at the graduate level in medical and public health fields of study.

Since 2017, Columbus Citizens Foundation has been awarding scholarships to promising medical school students of Italian heritage. The scholarship that launched CCF’s medical school offerings in 2017 is primarily funded by and selected in partnership with the Morgagni Medical Society. The Society was founded in 1890 as an organization which fostered the professional, intellectual, and economic development of Italian American physicians.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicant must be an incoming first year medical school student

  • Applicant must be a minimum of 50% Italian heritage for the Morgagni Medical Society Scholarship or a minimum of 25% Italian heritage for the Dr. Fauci Scholarship

  • Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 or 88%

Applicants must provide:

  • Their most recent Federal Tax Return documents (2022 tax year, or 2023 tax year, if available). Consideration is given for applicants with demonstrated financial need

  • The applicant’s Student Aid Report (SAR) from the 2024-2025 FAFSA application (if applying for our College or Medical School Scholarships). We are aware of the updates to and the December launch of the 2024-2025 FAFSA application. This should not impact our application process

  • Two (2) letters of recommendation from professional and/or academic contact. This may include teachers, professors, community leaders, mentors, counselors, or another person who can speak to the applicant's academic merits and/or extracurricular and community service activities

  • The applicant’s most recent, or current, semester’s report card or transcript.
