On Wednesday, January 13, Michele Bogart provided a fascinating exploration of how and why public art and monuments began to appear in Central Park.

For all the virtues of a pristine, cultivated landscape to provide an escape from the rapidly expanding city, monuments began to appear not too long after Central Park opened to the public.

Our views are evolving about public commemoration and scholar Michele Bogart took us on a journey to understand some of the decisions that shape the park that so defines the image of our city.

Who would have thought that that old scout song would practically become our National Anthem? Indeed who does know when we’ll be all together again?

But we do know we are closer to being all together again than we have been for many months.

Yet despite our separation, our Members have pulled together to maintain our momentum.

You all know about our spectacular virtual parade and the work of those committees, but let us praise both the Ladies Auxiliary and the Young Adults...
