Thalassemia (aka Cooley's anemia) is a genetic blood disorder that disproportionately affects people of Italian descent, resulting in a life-threatening anemia. On Tuesday, May 24, members of the Cooley's Anemia Foundation, including CCF Members Peter Chieco and Frank Somma, will provide valuable information on this difficult disorder, including how people can find out if they carry the trait and what is being done to fight thalassemia and how the Italian American community has been affected and involved. Reception at 6PM. Program at 6:30pm.
